On January 20th, Adelanto Elementary School held its first Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. The celebration consisted of a history lesson about the great civil rights leader, an encore performance of the “I Have a Dream “speech presented by the Safe School Ambassadors and fun with song and dance. The event was educational and inspirational to all.
The Safe School Ambassadors originally performed the speech at the King Celebration at Victor Valley College on January 16th. They did such a wonderful job that they gave their peers the chance to see the benefit of hard work and dedication. The student body and staff were quite impressed with the presentation.
At the end of the performance, Board President Evelyn Glasper said a few words about her experience with the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She told the students that she used to listen to him speak regularly near her university as a college student in Georgia. She shared that he was such a dynamic speaker that many were inspired to have greater aspirations in their lives. And, she mentioned how important it is that we continue to push the “Dream” forward, to never give up on your dreams and to serve our community by helping others. Her unexpected words of wisdom were an added bonus to the assembly.
